Community Collaborations

The Tale of a Wandergeselle

For a visit and reading at UMass Amherst from poet Mary Ruefle, I created a dinner set based on her short story “Old Immortality” for a community dinner in which all participants read the portion of the story printed upon their plates. I learned techniques for this project by talking with potters throughout western Massachusetts.

The Listening Horns of Covid Spring

Thisceramic project built community ties with my poetry classmates when Covid shifted our deeply collaborative in-person workshop to the socially-distanced digital alternative of Zoom. I made ten horns, each with a poem written upon it inspired by a word that particular classmate had spoken to me through their horn…an activity which took place the day before Covid quarantine shut down in-person classes for the next year.
